Garlic Bread French
French style garlic bread cooked two ways
Garlic bread is one of those old favourites that will never be out of fashion. This version is the French one using butter. It can be made in two ways, under the broiler (grill) or in a frying pan. The frying pan version is a little more indulgent with a toasty flavour and twice the butter. A great starter guaranteed to wet everyone’s appetite and so easy to make. Buy a baguette now.
Ingredients
1 large French baguette
5 X garlic cloves
2 handfuls of fresh parsley (Washed and dried)
100g - 3.5oz room temperature salted butter (Add approx 30% more butter for option two)
Half tsp pepper
Steps
Step 1
Add the soft butter to a mixing bowl.
Step 2
Pick the leaves from the parsley, leaving the stalks and chop leaves finely, add to butter.
Step 3
Peel the garlic cloves, crush or chop very finely and add to butter.
Step 4
Add the crushed pepper and mix well using a fork.
Step 5
Slice the baguette diagonally to make longer slices.
Step 6
Spread the garlic butter on each slice, ensuring the top is completely covered.
Step 7
Place each slice butter side up, on a baking sheet pan and use the broiler (griller) setting in your oven to toast the tops. Remove when toasty brown in colour.
Option Two
Step 8
Butter both sides of each slice with garlic butter (use less)
Step 9
Place a frying pan on low heat and add the slices. Cook until brown then flip over and repeat.
Step 10
Serve hot immediately.
Little Tips
You can also replace the garlic with mixed herbs if garlic breath is a concern.
Always serve hot.
Bread will freeze well if making in advance.
