How to ‘blanch and peel a tomato’
Make sure your hands are clean. Grab 2 large bowls. Fill 1 with iced water and leave 1 empty.
With a sharp knife, cut a cross shape in the bottom of the tomato.
Put the tomatoes into a bowl and carefully pour boiling water over to cover. Leave the tomatoes in the hot water for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
With a slotted spoon, lift them carefully out of the water and dunk it into the iced water. Leave to cool for a minute and lift out of the water. Use your fingers to peel off the skin. This should be nice and easy.
Cut the tomato into four pieces and scoop out the watery middle bit.
