How to Decorate a Cake

Do you get performance anxiety when you have to write "Happy Birthday!" on a cake? Even if you have great handwriting, it's really tricky to get those letters looking beautiful and centered.
With this tip, courtesy of our reader Barbara, in Ontario, you'll never have to worry about getting your message across. Instead of piping directly on to your cake, pipe the words on a sheet pan coated with wax paper. You can even trace the letters from a printout placed underneath the wax paper. You'll want to use royal icing or white or dark chocolate for your message because they harden as they dry.
