Spinach and Cheese Stuffed Bread
Ingredients
For the filling:
- 2 cups fresh spinach (washed and chopped)
- 1 cup feta cheese
- 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
For the dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
For topping:
- Sesame seeds (optional)
- Black seeds (optional)
- 1 beaten egg (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add warm milk, vegetable oil, and the egg. Knead until the dough becomes soft and smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- In a pan, heat olive oil and cook the chopped spinach until it wilts.
- Add minced garlic and mix well.
- Remove from heat, then add feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix and allow the filling to cool.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into equal balls.
- Roll each ball, add a spoonful of the spinach filling in the center, and close the dough. Shape as desired.
- Place the stuffed dough pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds or black seeds.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm for a delicious breakfast or snack.
