🌙 Kunafa with Cream (Qashta)

Golden, creamy, and indulgent — the ultimate Middle Eastern dessert 😍💛

⭐ Ingredients:

For the Kunafa:

500 g kunafa (frozen and shredded)

1 cup clarified butter (ghee) 🧈 – the secret to amazing flavor!

2 tbsp powdered sugar

For the Cream (Qashta):

2 cups milk

4 tbsp cornstarch

1 ready-made cream (optional)

For the Syrup (Sugar Syrup / Qatr):

2 cups sugar

1 cup water

Juice of ½ lemon 🍋

🔥 How to Prepare:

1. Make the Syrup (Qatr)

Mix water and sugar in a pot and bring to a boil.

Once boiling, add the lemon juice and let it simmer for 8 minutes.

Remove from heat and let it cool completely. The syrup should be thick and cold.

2. Make the Cream (Qashta)

Mix the milk and cornstarch while cold.

Heat on the stove, stirring constantly until thick, like pudding.

Remove from heat, stir in the ready-made cream (if using), and let it cool.

3. Prepare the Kunafa

Rub the shredded kunafa with the melted ghee and powdered sugar until every strand is coated 👐.

4. Assemble

Grease a baking tray with ghee.

Spread half of the kunafa and press it firmly using the bottom of a cup or a smaller pan.

Spread the cream layer on top, leaving some space at the edges to prevent burning.

Add the remaining kunafa on top and press gently.

5. Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) until the edges turn dark golden.

Flip the kunafa carefully and bake the other side until golden.

6. Add Syrup

While hot, pour the cold syrup evenly over the kunafa.

Let it cool slightly before cutting into pieces.

💛 Result:

Golden, crispy, creamy, and heavenly — the ultimate homemade kunafa 😋
